The Seafood Chowder, priced at just CA$10.00, is a standout, brimming with a medley of fresh fish that delivers a comforting touch on chilly days. For the quintessential Maritimer experience, the Fish and Chips here is often hailed as the best outside the UK. Featuring a perfectly crispy batter and seasoned, flaky fish, it’s a dish that evinces both tradition and quality.
The menu doesn't stop there; diners can also indulge in vibrant options like the Summer Salad and hearty entrees such as the Cajun Alfredo Pasta or a lavish Lobster Feast for those seeking something more extravagant. Great food, people and drinks. I was there for an hour before closing while staying in Cavendish on business. Worth stopping in for sure, best fish and chips I have had in a while, and the owners and staff are great too.
Absolutely LOVED our experience here. My boyfriend and I came here with our 2 friends on a chilly day, and sat inside. The atmosphere was very cottage-homey and noise level wasn’t too quiet / awkward or too loud for such a small space. From start to finish the hostess / servers were wonderful, friendly, and attentive. The food was very good, at reasonable prices. 2 had the captains (smash) burger, and 2 had the chicken sandwich. The table also ordered drinks, mussels, a summer salad, and 3 deserts. Bill was approx 250.00 for the table with tax and tip. Our friend from the UK was blown away by the bread pudding and said it’s the best he’s had in his two years in Canada. The summer salad dressing was the only thing we found could use an improvement, as we just found the Dijon Mustard was an odd flavor / the flavors didn’t mesh well for us, but no biggie at all! Maybe ask for their blueberry vinaigrette instead Thanks for such an awesome evening!
Easily the best fish and chips I’ve had outside of the UK! The batter and fish were well seasoned, the fish was crispy, not oily at all (as some fish and chips can be). The slaw and tartar sauce were very good as well! They serve beers from local breweries, which is awesome! The atmosphere was beautiful and well decorated. The staff were amazing! Kind, courteous and knowledgeable! I would come back to the Island just for their fish alone! An amazing place to eat!
A must when visiting PEI, the food was incredibly fresh an delicious. The sea food chowder had a large amount and a wide variety of fish and sea food inside. The fish and chips was huge and very well seasoned even underneath the batter. The ladies were kind, efficient, friendly, funny and a joy to be around. Highly recommended!
The lobster was amazing as was the Caesar salad, artichoke dip, and chicken sandwich! The fries were pretty good, and they gave a decent amount, the coleslaw unfortunately was not great. The food is a bit on the pricier side. The staff was really nice, we were served by three people since no one else was there when we ate. They leave water for you so you can continue to fill your glass which I appreciate. They also came several times to check on us. Overall an amazing experience at the Lost Anchor I would highly recommend it if you want a relaxing meal with high quality seafood!
Friendly people with great food. We tried scallop, fish & chips, mussels, salmon. All of them were amazing. Loved it!! Scallops were little bit expensive for 5 pieces but it was worth it
This was my first try at mussels even though we live on the Oregon coast. Very impressive! Not sure if this is regular, but sure seemed like a huge pile of clams for the price! The sauce was excellent. My son gave a thumbs up too :-) I think what impressed us the most was the seafood chowder being GLUTEN FREE! She said they make it from scratch and are very careful to not add anything extra that could be allergy sensitive. So if you are gluten free, here is your chance!!! I got the fish and chips and it was huge and very fresh tasting fish. A bit oily, but I think that is to be expected because they are fish and chips. Not a whole lot of room inside but lots of seating outside. The waiter was excellent to our kids! Great service as well. Would come back when visiting again.
Excellent local restaurant in the heart of Cavendish! Portions are large, and there are plenty of vegan/vegetarian and gluten free options available. Their patio has two levels, so lots of room to enjoy the sunshine with a local beverage and fresh lobster. They also have high chairs and coloring/crayon activities for children. Strongly recommend the red pepper dip to share with friends. Their fish and chips are generously portioned with big slabs of fish and great fries! Burrito bowl is just fair - would have liked the beans and rice to be warmer so it would help melt the shredded cheese but it was still tasty with their "comeback sauce". Overall a nice dine-in option when you're in the area visiting or on vacation.
